NID 2021: Application Form, Exam Dates & Other Information

Design

NID means the National Institute of Design. Every year, a national entrance examination is held. The National Institute of Design is in charge of organizing the event.

Admissions to the Bachelor of Design (B.Des. ), Masters of Design (M.Des. ), and Ph.D. in Design are available via this entrance exam. The exam is divided into two parts: prelims and mains.

NIDs in Gujarat, Ahmedabad, Kurukshetra, Vijayawada, and Bangalore will have admission. NID all applications submitted for the only online mode and Exam Mode is Offline.

Application Form

Candidates must read the following instructions before filling out the application form:

  • Before filling out the online application form, candidates must first register online.
  • Candidates must upload a scanned picture of themselves as well as their signature.
  • Candidates in the reserved category must submit a copy of their applicable category certificate.
  • Take a printout of the completed application form and save it for future use.

Eligibility Criteria

Candidates must read the NID 2021 Eligibility Criteria before filling out the application form:

For B.Des

Criteria for Age:

  • Candidates in the General Category and General EWS Category who were born on or after July 1, 2001, are qualified to apply.
  • Candidates from the Reserved Category (Other Backward Class-Non Creamy Layer (OBC-NCL), Scheduled Caste (SC), and Scheduled Tribe (ST) born on or after July 1, 1998, are eligible to apply.
  • Indian citizens in the PwD Reserved Category who were born on or after July 1, 1996, are eligible to apply.
  • Candidates in the Foreign Nationals in Overseas (Supernumerary) Category who were born on or after July 1, 2001, are eligible to apply.

Eligibility:

  • Applicants must have passed or be scheduled to take the 10+2 qualifying test this academic year.
  • Candidates must have completed courses in science, arts, commerce, and humanities, among other subjects.

For M.Des

Criteria for Age:

  • Candidates in the General Category and the General EWS Category who were born on or after July 1, 1991, are qualified to apply.
  • Candidates from the Reserved Category (Other Backward Class-Non Creamy Layer (OBC- NCL), Scheduled Caste (SC), and Scheduled Tribe (ST) born on or after July 1, 1988, are eligible to apply.
  • Candidates in the Persons with Disabilities (PwD) Reserved Category who were born on or after July 1, 1986, are eligible to apply.
  • Candidates in the Foreign Nationals in Overseas (Supernumerary) Category who were born on or after July 1, 1991, are eligible to apply.

Eligibility:

  • To be eligible, candidates must have completed a four-year bachelor’s degree or a three-year bachelor’s degree in either field, or a four-year full-time diploma in design, fine arts, applied arts, or architecture after completing the 12th grade.
  • The provisional/graduation certificate must be submitted no later than July/August 2021.

Exam Pattern

Candidates must read the following information about the NID Exam Pattern:

  • The question paper will have a total of 100 points.
  • Exam Time: The exam will last three hours.
  • Exam Mode: The exam will be administered in an offline (pen/paper) format.
  • Exam Language: The exam will be administered in English.
  • The questions will be both visual and textual in nature.

Tips for Preparation

Candidates can use the following tips and tricks to help them prepare for the NID exam:

  • Cover all of the official syllabus’s subjects.
  • Practice with different mock tests and buy mock tests from the market or the internet.
  • Examine sample articles and previous year’s query papers.
  • Once you’ve finished studying, take a few minutes to jot down some quick notes, and review them on a regular basis.
  • Eat well and practice yoga or meditation.

Admit Card

NID 2021 Admit Card releasing in online mode. According to the schedule, NID admits cards will be available for download on the NID website.

Admit cards must be downloaded and printed by candidates. The DAT Prelims admit card will specify the reporting period. The admit card specifies the exact date and time of DAT Mains.

Result

An applicant must have taken all of the exams in both the DAT Prelims and the DAT Mains to be eligible for the merit list.

Candidates will not be given separate NID result score cards (digital or hard copy). The outcome will be made public via the internet.

Merit List

The official authority will prepare separate merit lists for each group based on the DAT Prelims scores. Only those who have been shortlisted will be qualified to take the DAT Mains test, which will be held on the dates set by the officials. Officials will publish the merit list via online mode after a few days of the written review.

Admission

Candidates will be admitted to all NID programs based on their success in the two-stage Design Aptitude Test. Candidates who have been chosen based on their results will be contacted for counseling.

Candidates must send their original certificates when applying to NID. Candidates must report to the assigned campus for final admission after receiving their admission letter.
