KARNATAKA PGCET 2021: Application Form, Exam Dates & Other Information

KARNATAKA PGCET means Karnataka Post Graduate Common Entrance Test. Every year, the Karnataka Examination Authority conducts the Karnataka PGCET, a state-level entrance exam (KEA).

Every year, candidates are enrolled for MBA, MCA, ME, M. Tech, and M.Arch admissions via this entrance exam (part or full time). Students may also apply for lateral entry into the MCA program.

Candidates who pass this common entrance exam will be qualified for PG admissions in Karnataka’s various institutions. KARNATAKA PGCET all applications submitted for the only online mode and Exam Mode is Offline.

Application Form

Candidates must read the following information about the Karnataka PGCET 2021 Application Form:

  • The application form for the Karnataka PGCET 2021 will be available in the third week of May 2021.
  • Students will have until the first week of June 2021 to submit their applications online.
  • Students must include their name, the course for which they are applying, date of birth, and other required information when registering for the Karnataka PGCET.
  • Students must have scanned copies of their portrait, signature, and thumb impression on hand when uploading the images.
  • Students are encouraged to fill out the form completely and properly since no changes can be made after the form has been submitted.
  • Several applications will be turned down. As a result, applicants must complete a single application form.
  • Students who have passed the GATE must also fill out an application form in order to be considered for M.Arch, M.Tech, or M.E. entry. Such candidates can apply based on their GATE scores and do not need to take an entrance exam.
  • Students must print the application form and payment proof after completing the application process. For future reference, keep the printed application and payment proof.

Application Fee

  • General Category Candidates: Rs.650/-
  • SC/ST & Other Categories Candidates: Rs.500/-

Payment Option

  • All the candidates can pay the fee by visiting any branch of the State Bank of Mysore. In the post office, you can also opt for other payments.

Eligibility Criteria

Candidates must read the Karnataka PGCET 2021 Eligibility Criteria before filling out the application form:

For MBA

  • Candidates should have a 3-year bachelor’s degree or equivalent from a recognized board/university.
  • Candidates should have obtained at least 50% marks (SC / ST of Karnataka candidates and 45% marks in QE in case of Category I).

For MBA (Part-Time)

  • Candidates should have a 3-year bachelor’s degree or equivalent from a recognized board/university.
  • Candidates should have obtained at least 50% marks (SC / ST of Karnataka candidates and 45% marks in QE in case of Category I).
  • Additionally, a candidate after obtaining the degree must have worked for not less than three years until 31 July 2020, working in an establishment and in an organization located within a radial distance of 40 km from the institution in which the candidate enters. 

For M.E/ M.Tech/ M.Arch

  • Candidates must have passed a qualification or equivalent examination from a recognized university.
  • Candidates must have a valid GATE score.
  • Candidates should have secured at least 50% marks (45% marks in QE in case of SC / ST and Category I of Karnataka).

For M.E/ M.Tech/ M.Arch (Part-Time)

  • Candidates must have passed a qualification or equivalent examination from a recognized university.
  • Candidates should have secured at least 50% marks (45% marks in QE in case of SC / ST and Category I of Karnataka).

For MCA

  • Candidates must pass the graduate or equivalent examination.
  • The candidate should pass the aptitude test with Mathematics, Statistics, Computer Science, Computer Applications, Computer Programming, Business Mathematics & Business Statistics as one of the optional subjects.
  • Candidates should have a minimum of 50% marks (45% marks in QE in the case of Class I of SC / ST and Karnataka candidates).

Exam Pattern

Candidates must read the following information about the Karnataka PGCET Exam Pattern:

  • Duration of Exam: 2 Hours 30 Minutes
  • Type of question: Multiple choice questions – Objective.
  • Number of questions: 75 questions
  • Total Marks: 100 marks 
  • Negative Marking: No negative markings. 
  • Marking Scheme: Part I will consist of 50 questions with one mark for each question attempted & Part II will consist of 25 questions with two marks for the special question.

Tips for Preparation

Candidates can use the following tips and tricks to help them prepare for the VITMEE exam:

  • Candidates should make notes for the exam to revise various topics more easily.
  • Candidates can prepare and solve previous year’s question papers, which they can buy or download online.
  • Candidates should try various mock tests to increase their level of preparation.
  • Students should study for the exam from good sources of study material.

Admit Card

The KEA PGCET 2021 admit card will be eligible in the fourth week of June 2021. For an admit card, students must enter their application number and password.

After downloading the admit cards, students must review the information on it, including the exam time, exam location, student photograph, and signature.

Students must review the current information in the admit card after downloading it. Students must contact officials if there is an error on their admit card, and it must be corrected before the test.

Answer Key

The KEA PGCET 2021 Answer Key will be made available on the website via an online mode. In the second week of July 2021, it will be published.

Candidates will be able to file objections to the answers after the response key is issued. Within three days of the publication of the response key with documentation and justification, complaints may be filed.

Students are encouraged to submit their objections before the deadline, as any submitted after the date would be ignored by the board.

Result

The Karnataka PGCET 2021 results will be released in the third week of August 2021. Candidates can verify their results by entering their roll number and other details. To be eligible for entry, candidates must obtain a rank and qualify by meeting the cut-off points.

If two or more candidates receive the same score, the tie-breaking criterion will be used. The authority may publish a merit list for all courses based on the results of the entrance exam.

Counseling

PGCET 2021 in Karnataka Seat allocation will be done by online counselling. In the first week of September 2021, the counselling will be completed. On the platform, candidates will look up the counselling schedule. For authentication, students must carry their original documents and certificates.

The following are the documents that must be taken to the counselling session:

  • Certificate of tenth degree
  • Certificate of 12th class
  • Exam score card that qualifies you for the next level
  • A diploma or a degree
  • Certificate of classification (Only Karnataka residents are required to fill out this form.)

  • Obtain a printout of the online application form.
  • Certificates of transfer, etc.
